UPDATED: Facebook post falsely claims LP will not get a copy of election returns

A post by Facebook user Ding Velasco last May 10 falsely claimed that the Liberal Party (LP) will not get copies of election returns from Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Velasco also said, "No Namfrel (National Citizens' Movement for Free Elections) count."

According to Article VII Section 28 of Resolution No. 10057, it is the duty of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) to give copies of election results to ten (10) major national parties excluding dominant majority and minority parties, local/national print and broadcast media, and official election watchdogs such as PPCRV, among others.

This allows the LP to receive copies of these documents.

This was also confirmed through a Tweet by former COMELEC commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal saying:

The Liberal Party is among the dominant majority parties entitled to receive election returns as per the cited in the article.

However, it is true that there will be "no Namfrel count" after the group rejected the Comelec's accreditation to be the citizen arm for the 2019 polls.

Following the withdrawal, Namfrel secretary general Eric Alvia said in a press conference last May 3 that they "will withdraw from the random manual audit."

The Comelec also provides ER copies to accredited citizens' groups "for the conduct of citizens' quick counts at the local or national level."
