Roxas never made ‘bobo’ comment

A pro-Duterte Facebook page attributed a fake quote that called voters “bobo” or “stupid” to senatorial bet Mar Roxas.

The post by the DU30 MEDIA Network does not state when the supposed quote — “maniniwala ako na mga BoBo ang mga botante kapag ako’y hindi nanalo (I will believe that voters are stupid if I lose)”-- was made.

However, the logo on the bottom left hand implies that it came from the “PiliPinas Debates 2016,” a debate series administered by the Commission on Elections for the general elections three years ago.

Roxas, who is currently running under the Otso Diretso opposition slate, was seeking the presidency at the time. He never said this in any of the three presidential debates conducted in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Pangasinan from February to April in 2016.

A reverse image search showed that the photo used was from the official Facebook page of Roxas posted on Feb. 21, 2016, where he questioned Jejomar Binay, another presidential candidate, about the alleged abundance of illegal drugs in Makati City.
